BUG OUT BAGS
Whether you are preparing for an earthquake, tsunami, nuclear fallout, oil spill, volcanic eruption, invasion, Nibiru, economic collapse.......... Man-made Disaster or God Card,
Having bug out bags for you and your loved ones is the LEAST you could do.
If anybody thinks you're crazy, you can just point right back to the government with Ready.gov and even Sesame Street (a UN & US Taxpayer funded project)! Everybody's doing it --- and if they arent then they are behind the times.
However, the government recommends you prepare for only 3 days. We recommend potential LONG TERM Preparedness. Hope for the best - plan for the worst.

BUG OUT BAGS - THINGS TO CONSIDER
|
BUG OUT BAGS ON A BUDGET
You can find any number of items for your Bug Out even on living paycheck to paycheck. Skip the movies or cancel cable (you don't need it anyway) and consider the following places:
You don't have to be fancy about it. Another tip is getting your backpacks... August - Sept. Old Navy has backpacks for $5 to $8. Stock up and get extras when/if you go back to school shopping. (Ross also has reasonable deals.) If you are constantly running out of gas before payday, fill a large gas can asap and keep it in the vehicle you plan to leave in - don't touch it. Also consider oil, cables, a gallon or two of water (for overheating). Tools, replacement parts, towing equipment, winch and bolt cutters (for padlocked gates) should be kept in the vehicle if possible. If all else fails, be prepared to walk. Tie a pair of comfortable shoes or hiking boots to the outside of your bag for "just in case". |
