but if these reactors actually melt down and explode high into the jet
stream it will carry the fallout dust particles directly to the US and
Canada.
You should be eating foods already which are high in iodine because of
the CURRENT radiation threat and to have a healthy level already in
case the worst happens.
Of course Potassium Iodide pills are good to have but do not take them NOW unless the worst has already happened. For now eat foods that contain natural iodine...

Haddock, 3 oz. - 105 to 300 mcg.
Low fat yogurt, 1 cup - 87 mcg.
Milk 2% 1 cup - 59 mcg.
Mayonnaise - 35 mcg.
Vegetables - 32 mcg.
Meat - 26 mcg.
One Egg - 26 mcg.
Cottage cheese 2% fat-1/2 c.- 26-71 mcg.
Cheddar cheese, 1 oz. - 23 mcg.
Strawberries 1 cup - 13 mcg.
Gouda cheese 40 grams - 14 mcg.
Ground beef, 3 oz. cooked - 8 mcg.
Cranberries
This antioxidant rich fruit is another great source of iodine. About 4 ounces of cranberries contain approximately 400/mcg of iodine.
Organic Yogurt
A natural probiotic, yogurt is an excellent iodine food you should add to your diet. One serving holds more than half of your daily needs. 1 cup contains approximately 90/mcg of iodine.
Organic Navy Beans
Many beans are a great food source of iodine, but navy beans may top the list. Just 1/2 cup of these beans contain about 32/mcg of iodine.
Egg (whole, boiled) - 1 each, 23.76 mcg
Sea Food:
Haddock has "a lot".
Cod is a good source as well.
(a significant part of the iodine is in the HEAD of the fish (where the thyroid is)
